Drini & The Badkats

Drini & the Bad Kats Band is a local Bay Area band that brings dynamic interpretations of R&B Soul, Blues, Swampy Funk and Classic Rock to their audiences. Nothing about this band is typical, including the songs they cover and the talent they present to their audiences since 2021.

When Drini, Ric, Ed, John & Brandon met up at a small studio in Redwood City in 2021, it was clear that palpable energy was present. The magic of the music spoke to all of them and the potential was recognized. Drini & the Bad Kats Band was born, and got to work crafting their sound; their interpretations; their magic.

New Shoes Blues Band

Dan Gorrell --- Guitar and vocals (founding member)

Dan is a native of southwest Ohio who lived in Louisville, Kentucky and Fresno before coming to the Bay Area in 2010. He started playing guitar as a teenager in numerous bands in Cincinnati and Louisville. After a long hiatus from performing he returned to stage work in 2008 and became a fixture in the Fresno blues scene, playing with some of that area’s most talented musicians. His early influences include Motown and many of the British blues guitarists. He has gradually gravitated toward the more blues-based southern rock bands and Mike Bloomfield's various adventures. He currently lives in Hayward and is convinced he was always a Californian — he just didn't realize it.

Steve Lopez --- Harmonica and vocals

Growing up in Sunnyvale, Steve picked up his first harmonica while attending junior high. While in High School in Sunnyvale, he heard Sonny Terry and Lee Oscar play the harmonica it was then he started to take the harp more seriously. As a member of The FOG, he recorded original music and the musical score for the short film The Last Glimmer. Steve has also played with the Country band Three on the Tree, Rock cover band Chain of Fools and the Firebird Blues Band. His music influences range from Big Band sounds to the Blues of Sonny Terry to the sound of the Bay Area Rock of the late 60's and early 70’s.

Scott Goldberg --- Bass and vocals

Scott studied music at Cal State Hayward, where he concentrated on jazz and classical guitar, and also studied composition, arranging, and jazz theory with Dave Eshleman.  Scott's musical roots are firmly entrenched in blues, bluegrass, ragtime, and slide guitar. He also has a strong background in solo jazz guitar, fingerstyle guitar, funk, classical, country, rock, and reggae guitar. A kid who picked up his first guitar at the age of seven, Scott performed his first professional gig at the age of twelve. All of Scott's supporting players are seasoned professionals who play music full time, so you can always expect a quality performance, regardless of how many members are present. We usually perform as a four piece, consisting of two guitars, bass and vocals. All members have played with major acts, known nationally or internationally. Scott is also an award winning producer and engineer, holding four CARA Awards, equivalent to Grammy Awards in the A Capella world, and his other credits include being the band leader for Toto's original lead vocalist, "Bobby Kimball" doing all the "Toto" hits with a 13 piece all star band, as well as leader of bands with friend and Rockabilly Hall of Fame guitarist,  Bobby Cochran of "Steppenwolf" and Bob Weir's band, "Bobby & The Midnights,"  Scott also works with blues harmonica legend, Andy Just of Robben Ford and the "Ford Brothers Blues Band" as well as Garth Webber, renowned guitarist who has toured with jazz legend Miles Davis and Greg Allman among many others. Scott occasionally works with original Motown funk brother and world famous bass player Tony Newton, who's played on over 100 number one hits over his career with every famous Motown artist, along with many number one artists charting from jazz to funk to fusion.  Last, but not least, Scott co-wrote, recorded and mixed/produced and mastered the entire film score for Lionsgate movie "Full Clip" starring Bustarhyme, Exhibit, Ellen Cleghorn of SNL, and Bubba Smith. The movie is 20 years old but is still viewable and seen regularly on the BET network, as well as HBO, etc.

Oakland is and always has been a beer town; a place where hard-working people would gather together to enjoy locally brewed, fresh beer. As the local population grew, Oakland was affectionately referred to as the “Milwaukee of the West” for its numerous neighborhood-based breweries.

Founded in 2009 as Linden Street Brewery, we became the first community-based production brewery in Oakland since Golden West Brewery closed in the 1950s. We are proud to have been the first of many craft brewers who have since restored production brewing in Oakland.

Rick Sanders - Live Looper

Rick grew up listening to music during the 80s and 90s, but didn't start playing until much later. He's a product of Bay Area musical instruction, taking guitar lessons and then voice lessons from local instructors and earning his chops in open mics and cover bands. Some artists who captivated him early on were Jimi Hendrix, Yusuf/Cat Stevens, R.E.M., and the Barenaked Ladies.

Rick started out with the electric guitar before embracing the acoustic guitar and singing. After seeing live looping for the first time at a KT Tunstall concert, the idea of being able to play both lead and rhythm as a solo artist set him on what would eventually become his path as a performer.

A large part of Rick's live show is something called "Live Looping". This is a technique that utilizies on-stage pedals to record the live performance and re-play it in real time. When layering these recordings with various guitar and vocal effects, it lets Rick emulate the drummer, bass player, and background vocals to gives the music a true full-band feel.

DJ Cilla W/ Special Guest Rafa/Laughing Monk Tap Takeover

DJ Cilla is an open format female DJ out of the Bay Area. Bringing people together through music is something she enjoys most. Her wide selection of music and her ability to read the crowd allows her to take others through a musical journey that is unforgettable. Follow her Instagram handle @dj_cilla and see the impact she continues to make with in our community through music.

The reggae band that will be joining her is called Rafa Bio: We are a large “family band“ that performs authentic reggae music ranging from Bob Marley to Lucky Dube. We have two goals: to preserve roots music and to make people feel good. On stage, we bring a big sound and an infectious spirit of unity and positivity. The name Rafa derives from the Hebrew word for healing, based on our belief in the transformative power of music. If you’re looking for a classic roots reggae, rock steady, lovers rock band with vintage flavor and uplifting energy to get a crowd moving.

Every adventure needs to start somewhere. Ours began as beer fans and home brewers, growing up on the hoppy pales of California, exploring the subtle malt & expressive yeast of Belgian styles, and appreciating the beauty of exemplary German lagers. We draw from these heritages with a trademark penchant for levity to bring community together over an offering of traditionally irreverent craft beer.
